The European Commission has revised upwards Romania’s economic growth forecast

The European Commission has significantly revised the economic growth forecast for Romania in 2021, to 7.4%. This forecast is higher by 2,3% than the assessment made this spring and places Romania on the first place in the European Union, followed by Ireland, with a 7,5% economic growth. Moreover, the Commission estimates an economic increase of 4,9% for Romania in 2022. The economy of the European Union as a whole is set to grow by 4,8% in 2021 and bu 4,5% in 2022, according to the summer forecast published on Wednesday by the European Commission. It also says that the economy is recovering faster than expected, after economic activity has surpassed expectations in the first quarter of 2021 and an improvement in the health situation led to an easing of restictions in the second quarter.

Romania has started testing the first electric bus manufactured domestically

The first electric bus made in Romania is undergoing two weeks of testing in the town of Fagaras, in Brasov county. The prototype has also been tested in Oradea and Braila. The bus has a capacity of 83 seats and a minimum autonomy of 200 kilometers in the city, which could be extended to 360 kilometers. According to the local council in Fagaras, the town’s inhabitants will be able to ride this vehicle until the 2th of July, hour by hour, from 9am to 6pm.

The Romanian President Klaus Iohannis is taking part in the sixth summit of the Three Seas Initiative, which is unfolding in the Bulgarian capital, Sofia, on Thursday and Friday. The Romanian Presidency has said that the events marks the resumption of activities in a physical format, including for the Business Forum and is also a new step in the process of enhancing this initiative. The agenda includes the assessment of progress made on the implementation of the list with strategic and priority projects of interconnection agreed during the summit in Bucharest and also the operation of the Investment Fund of the Three Seas Initiative, where Romania, by means of EximBank and Poland, by means of its Development Bank, are founding states.
