Romania – EU’s third lowest minimum wages in 2021

The Romanian government has announced updated minimum salary levels for certain workers in 2021. The minimum salary level for non-graduate positions will increase to RON 2,300 gross per month (some € 472) . Romania has the third lowest minimum salary among EU Member States. Bulgaria tops first in range with its €332 salary, followed by Hungary, with  €467..Luxembourg tops minimum salaries in EU Member States with its €15.27/hour and €2,642,32 per month.

Renewed heat wave in Romania

Meteorologists in Romania on Monday issued a warning about high temperatures of around 40 C for parts of south- and north-western Romania.while also warning of a much higher disconfort levels. Weather will be unusualy hot in the western provinces of Banat, and Crișana, southern province of Oltenia, north-western Maramureș and south-western Transylvania, according to Radio Romania. Romania’s capital Bucharest is also expected to see temperatures of more than 35C.The country usually had a temperate-continental climate of transitional type, specific for Central Europe,

Hunedoara Energy Complex under restructuring

Hunedoara Energy Complex (CEH) once consisted of four underground mines–Lonea, Livezeni, Vulcan and Lupeni–but in 2017, Lonea and Lupeni closed, leaving only two active operations. Its all alomust 1,500 employees left are expected to quit on Monday following recent layoffs. Their contracts end on Monday when miners will become unemployed as CEH is facing a thorough restructuring.  By the late 1990s, Romania’s mining operations needed huge government subsidies for further operating. Between 2002 ansd 2012, the government closed 255 mines. Miners are expected to get compensations of €10,000 each by August 15 while Cristian Roșu, vice-president of the country’s Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) said he planned the immediate restricturing of the company.
