Romania’s debt under 50 percent, Romanian PM says

„Romania’s debt is under 50 percent actually, one on the lowest in the EU, and even at 50 percent, it would still stand among the lowest in the block”, Prime Miniser Florin Cîțu told Radio Romania on Monday. „Countries around the world reported higher debt last year as deficits had been growing. Romania’s loans are expected to cover a budget deficit the former governing left-wing Social Democrat Party (PSD) used to cover through further loans. It is the first year when Romania’s loans will only go to investements meaning the borrowing costs are lower. It means we gave less money back than we borrowed while building the trust of foreign investors. Investors expressed their trust in Romania and its governing programme”, Prime Minister Cîțu said.
