NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is visiting Romania
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has joined President Klaus Iohannis on a visit to Kogalniceanu 57 Air Base, after official talks held at the invitation of the Romanian leader. They are also due to hold a joint news conference. The visit comes as the first convoy of  American military hardware has reached Romania this morning, at the Mihail Kogalniceanu base. The second convoy is also heading towards the Kogalniceanu Base in Constanta. Due to tensions between Russia and Ukraine, The United States has decided to sent to Romania another 1,000 troops, in order to strengthen NATO’s Eastern Flank. The American deployment due to be stationed in Romania is called Task Force Cougar.
The Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Valery Kusmin, has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry 
The Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Valery Kusmin, has been summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where state secretary for strategic affairs, Iulian Fota has told him what Romania, US and NATO have repeatedly stated – that the anti-missile shield in Deveselu is purely defensive and it is not aimed at Russia, as it has no capacity to host offensive missiles.
The number of COVID-19 cases in Romania is declining
The number of COVID-19 infections in Romania has continued to decline on Friday, with 22,737 new cases reported. There were aleso 132 deaths associated with a COVID-19 infection. However, the incidence of new infections in the capital Bucharest has continued to rise, hitting 37.7 cases per 1,000 inhabitants, on Friday.
