Romania asks for support to manage the monkeypox cases

Romania has asked for support in order to handle the cases of monkeypox on its territory. The National Committee for Emergency Situations (CNSU) has decided to resort to the European Civil Protection Mechanism in order to get the doses of medicines needed to treat around 150 infected patients. A statement says that the CNSU meeting was held at the request of the Health Ministry and as the World Health Organization has declared the monkeypox an international health emergency. Romania has so far confirmed 40 cases and has received 5,000 of vaccines against the monkeypox from the European Commission earlier this month. The vaccines are given to people who were in contact with infected individuals.

Romania condemns the „illegal and illegitimate” Russian referenda in Ukrainian territories

They are a grave violation of the international law and, therefore, are not legally binding”, a statement of the Foreign Ministry says. It also reiterates Romania’s firm support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignity and territorial integrity and asks all states to reject Russia’s attempts to illegally annex other countries’ territories.
