Draft law gets Senate approval

Romania’s upper house adopted a draft law on Tuesday allowing online submission of documents concerning participation in contests for jobs in the public sector. However, original copies are mandatory for admitted candidates. Authors of the project claim that anyone could benefit from an unrestricted access to public service positions without any further burocarcy while also preventing competitors from travelling to attend an initial phase of the competition. A final vote is expected from the House of Deputies, Romanian Parliament’s lower house.

Simple motion against Romanian interior minister under debate next week

The leader of the opposition USR MPs, Ionuț Moșteanu, said his party submitted a simple motion against Romanian Interior Minister Lucian Bode on Tuesday. The leader of the center-right wing Save Romania Union (USR) said the draft was submitted under the title “Safety and Trust or Debauchery and Theft? – Minister Bode must be hold accountable for the current disaster’’. USR MPs along with MPs of the Right Force call for the resignation of Mr. Bode giving his failure in reforming the ministry and his alleged ‘greatest achievement’, an auction for purchase of 600 BMWs.

Talks between Romanian president and EU high-ranking officials

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis attended an online conference on Tuesday along with EU Council President Charles Michel and other EU leaders before meetings on Thursday and Friday in the Czech capital Prague. Participants also included Luxembourg PM Xavier Bettel, and Finland’s PM Sanna Marin. Talks focused on issues such as Ukraine, energy, security and economy, Romanian president tweeted. EU leaders and leaders of 17 non-EU countries, including UK and Ukraine, have received invitations to the two-day summit in Prague organised by the Czech EU Presidency.
