The European Parliament is debating Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen area

The European Parliament is debating in Strasbourg on Wednesday Romania and Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen area. The MPs are set to request that the free movement area be finalized fast, by an expansion to all European Union member states that wish to be a part of it and a resolution on this manner is due to be subjected to a vote in the next plenary session.

Romania could receive around 1.4 billion euros for projects on energy independence and countering energy poverty, after the REPowerEU was adopted in the Economic and Financial Affairs Council in Luxembourg, on Tuesday, the Romanian Finance Minister Adrian Caciu has said. He explained that in the course of negotiations, the amount of money assigned to Romania has doubled compared to the initial proposal of the European Commission submitted in May, when around 720 million euros were allocated.
