„Together for the safety of women” rally took place yesterday in Bucharest and other cities

Marches took place yesterday in the big cities under the slogan „Together for the safety of women”. In Bucharest, the FILIA Association organized a rally in University Square, followed by a march to Victoriei Square. The organization mainly requested funding from the budget for counseling services and reception centers for victims of violence or sexual abuse. The NGO is also campaigning for the amendment of the law, so that the notion of valid consent in the case of rape is no longer used in the case of minors under 16 years of age. A similar action took place in Brașov. According to the FILIA Organization, last year almost 6,000 rapes, sexual assaults and sexual acts with minors were registered with the Police, but the NGO mentioned that sexual abuse is still underreported in Romania.
