Romanian and Bulgarian authorities have launched a cross-border project in the Giurgiu-Ruse region to support organic farming

The authorities in Romania and Bulgaria have launched a cross-border project in the Giurgiu-Ruse region to support organic farming, in which farmers cultivate plants with high economic value, without affecting the natural balance of the area. The initiative encourages sustainable agriculture and the protection of biodiversity by developing niche organic crops.
Partners in the project are the Administration of Slivo Pole, Bulgaria, the „Udriște Năsturel” High School in Hotarele and 60 companies within the Employers’ Association Regional Center for Urban Entrepreneurship in the South-Muntenia Region, whose administrator is Dorian Vorel.
Dorian Vorel: The project has an environmental dimension, in the sense that it aims to contribute to reducing soil erosion, and, on the other hand, it also has an entrepreneurial dimension, in the sense that we promote the establishment of new crops.
The initiative encourages the prevention of soil degradation by developing niche ecological crops, such as berries and lavender.
These crops will be implemented somehow by the Bulgarian partner, in the sense that they will be cultivated within this project on an area previously used for intensive wheat and maize crops, the crops aiming to prevent soil desertification.
The project is financed by the Interreg Romania-Bulgaria 2021-2027 program and benefits from a non-reimbursable funding of over 600,000 euros.

The Constitutional Court analyzes the appeal filed by Călin Georgescu against the decision of the Central Electoral Bureau

The Constitutional Court is reviewing, at its 5:00 p.m. session, the appeal filed by Călin Georgescu against the Central Electoral Bureau’s decision to reject his candidacy for the presidential elections. The judges will also take into account the complaints of other individuals regarding the same decision adopted on Sunday evening. They will also hear an appeal filed against the candidacy of Nicușor Dan, which has already been validated by the BEC.
Călin Georgescu claims in his appeal that the Central Electoral Bureau exceeded its powers when it invalidated his presidential candidacy and that it has no legal basis to refer to the decisions of the Constitutional Court. The decision given by the BEC on Sunday evening generated violent protests in the Old Center of the Capital by Călin Georgescu’s supporters, as a result of which several people were detained. In order to prevent such incidents in the future, the Romanian Gendarmerie deployed forces around several institutions in the Capital. Representatives of the Gendarmerie also draw attention to the fact that a disinformation campaign is being carried out on social networks regarding the incidents in the center of Bucharest, in which false messages and false information from other protests are used. Another false message posted online and dismantled by the institution refers to the fact that over 30% of the gendarmes are not Romanian, but rather French. The judges of the Constitutional Court will also analyze the appeal regarding the candidacy of the mayor of the capital, Nicușor Dan, for the presidential elections. The person who filed the complaint asks the Constitutional Court to verify a document that circulated in the public space last year, regarding his possible collaboration with the former Securitate. Nicușor Dan is also accused of systematically refusing to enforce court decisions. The decisions that the Constitutional Court will take today are final./aionita
