Romanian governmet meeting

Romania’s government has approved the rules in current pension law designed to recalculate all pensions in the public system scheduled in September. The new measures are not expected to include pension cuts, Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu pointed out in a statement while adding that pensions were expected to fairly increase in future. Also on Wednesday, the Romanian cabinet approved the budget for the Environment Fund Administration (AFM). The RON 9.3 billion budget includes a record-fund of RON 2 billion for Romania’s Green Photovoltaic House programme as Romanian Environment, Waters and Forests Minister Mircea Fechet claimed that every roof in Romania should have such pannels as they were expected to produce electricity directly from sunlight.

New earthquake in Romania

A new eathquake shook Romania on Thursday, according to an announcement of the country’s National Institute for Research – Development for Earth Physics (INCDFP). The earthquake of 4.2 on Richter scale was reported in Romania’s eastern region of Vrancea at 11.25 AM, local time. The quake had a moderate depth of 140 km., and it was felt by some people near the area.

New construction site opens in Bucharest

A new construction site is expected to open in Romania’s capital Bucharest. The announcement on Wednesday was made by Bucharest Mayor Nicușor Dan. Works involve the replacement of a 50-year old pipe line, more than 5 km. long, in the area of Ștefan cel Mare Avenue and streets near-by. Works already started in the courtyard of the Colentinaa Hospital. More than 110 km. of pipes have been already replaced with 59 km. only last year, the mayor pointed out, while final works on a 70 km. pipe replacement were expected this year.
