The Romanian Orthodox community in Amsterdam, Netherlands, will soon have its own church

The Romanian Orthodox community in Amsterdam, Netherlands, will soon have its own church, according to Father Ion Iuga, the priest of the Romanian Orthodox Parish „Sfantul Ioan Gura de Aur” (Saint John Chrysostom). Currently, the Holy Liturgy is held in the building of the Old Catholic community church in Aalsmeer, near Amsterdam. Father Ion Iuga’s message, shared on social media platforms and on the parish website, states that the existing Catholic parish of Onze Lievre Vrouw Hemelvaart in Heemstede is offering to sell its place of worship. The hope is that they will be able to acquire and arrange it as a generous and welcoming space for prayer, suitable for their large Orthodox community. According to Father Iuga, the Romanian community has grown significantly in recent years, and the current place of worship is becoming insufficient, especially during holidays like Easter.
