Romanian capital Bucharest under ‚red scenario’

Romanian capital Bucharest went into the ‚red scenario’ on Wednesday as Coronavirus hit 3.3 cases per thousand, according to official sources. New restrictions are underway while a digital certificate will become mandatory for people from the age of 6. A green certificate is expected to confirm vaccination or a negative test. The certificate is valid when confirmed by Romania’s Strategic Communication Group (GCS). On general level, Coronavirus cases in Romania hit 1,165,886 on Wednesday, with 35,851 deaths, and 1,086,351 recovered, according to data issued by Worldometer on Wednesday. However, Romania could start offering a third COVID-19 vaccine dose to medical staff and at-risk people as early as next week as the number of new daily cases was rising sharply, a GCS head said on Tuesday.

President Klaus Iohannis at a global summit in US

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis is expected to attend a videoconference as part of a global summit organised by US President Joe Biden on Wednesday. The summit will focus on environmental issues and ways of keeping them under control along with the response of world governments to tackle Covid-19 pandemic. President Iohannis is in New York to attend the UN General Assembly conference where UN President Antonio Guterres said on Tuesday that “we face the greatest cascade of crises in our lifetimes while solidarity is missing just when we need it most”.

Simona Halep calls off her relationship with trainer Darren Cahill

Romania’s tennis champion Simona Halep has decided on Wednesday to end her relationship with her trainer, Darren Cahill.  Together, they were a team for six years and have enjoyed huge success. She released an emotional post on social media highlighting his importance in her life. Since she began working with her Australian trainer, Halep ended two seasons with the top ranking in the world and reached three Grand Slam finals.”Thank you D for everything, for making me a better tennis player and a better person”, she wrote. Halep is current;y ranked 11 in the world due to various enjuries. She married businessman Toni Iuruc at a ceremony on September 15 in the Black Sea port of Constantza.

Romania coronavirus updates

Romania reported 7,045 new cases on Wednesday, with 130 deaths (55 men, 75 women), and another 1,037 under intensive care. In the caapital Bucharest, the number of cases hit 1,044, according to data isssued by the country’s Strategic Communication Group (GCS). With the cases reported, the Romanian capital leads among other regions across the country followed by western county of Timiș with 389 cases, north-western county of Cluj with 321 cases, and the south-eastern county of Constantza with 313 cases.
