The 5-th wave of the pandemic makes its presence felt in Romania

More and more new cases of COVID-a9 are being registered again in our country. 1,756 were reported yesterday – almost double the previous day and three times a week ago. The test positive rate also increased a lot, reaching almost 6%. The incidence of cases accumulated at 14 days has as well increased in most counties. Almost 2,500 infected patients are in hospitals, of which 400 are in serious condition, in Intensive Care units. Another 18 associated deaths were announced.
In the meantime, interest in vaccination is on the rise. According to the latest assessment, more than 6,700 people took the first dose in 24 hours. 7,800,000 Romanians currently have been completely vaccinated.

The measure of wearing masks with a higher degree of protection is one of those taken into account in the last period by the authorities. The preparation of the medical system in the perspective of the evolution towards the 5-th wave of COVID infections, estimated for this beginning of the year, is the subject of videoconference meetings that the management of the Ministry of Health has today with the representatives of the Public Health Directorates and the directors of hospitals. Due to the rapid proliferation of new cases of COVID-19 in healthcare facilities, the number of coronavirus patients is increasing overnight by more than 100. Currently, there are almost 2,600, and 390 of them are in Intensive Care units.

Conclusions of the Victoria Palace meeting on energy

The authorities say electricity is being provided for both essential services and household and other consumers. Regarding the supply of gas, the quantities are provided for the normal operations of supply. These are the conclusions of a meeting convened today at Victoria Palace by Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă. The discussions, which lasted almost three hours, were attended by several members of the Cabinet and representatives of Transelectrica, Transgaz, Romgaz, but also of ANRE. The state of preparations for the winter season was analyzed from the perspective of the evolutions of the energy sector in Romania.
