Around 3.700 Ukrainians have applied for asylum in Romania, acording to the Ministry of Internal Affairs

Around 3.700 Ukrainians have applied for asylum in Romania since the start of the war in Ukraine, the Romanian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) has said on Saturday. According to a statement released by MAI, there are 3.688 Ukrainian citizens who applied for asylum and they all benefit from rights enshrined in the national law.
Throughout the procedure, asylum seekers may receive accommodation in the centers of the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI), if they so require, as well as material, financial, medical, psychological and legal assistance, access to the labor market and activities for cultural integration.
Moreover, the refugees are offered support from the international and non-governmental organizations working in the area of migration.
At present, the occupation rate of IGI’s accommodation centers stands at 62,6%, according the ministry’s statement.
