Moldova’s place is in the big family of the European Union, says Romanian President

„Romania has been and continues to stand by the Republic of Moldova and strongly condemns any attempt of destabilization initiated from outside the country,” Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said in a message sent by the Presidential Administration. The Romanian President considers extremely worrying the public signals of attempts by the Russian Federation to illegitimately intervene to overthrow the democratic and constitutional order of the Republic of Moldova, a sovereign state that has chosen its political direction by free vote. The Republic of Moldova’s place is in the great family of the European Union, says the Romanian President, adding that this path is irreversible and must be followed with consistency, courage and ambition.

The Constitutional Court of Romania to consider the constitutionality of the Cybersecurity Law

The Constitutional Court of Romania is today examining whether the Cyber Security Law complies with the Constitution. The USR and Forța Dreptei parties have filed a petition in which they draw attention to the fact that the law would seriously violate Romanians’ right to privacy. MEPs from the two parties argue that the law would force internet and cyber security providers to disclose their customers and provide their private data and information without a warrant. USR also points out that many other articles and provisions would be unclear and vague, opening the door to abuse.
