The National Institute of Statistics published data related to the annual inflation rate

The annual inflation rate has decreased in October from 8.8%, in September, to 8.1, according to data from the National Institute of Statistic. This evolution took place while food, non-alimentary goods and services continued to become more expensive.
Although inflation decreased, basic products have become more expensive in October. The prices for milk, bread, eggs and meat have risen significantly compared to last month. The highest monthly price increase was registered in potatoes – more than 6%. At the opposite end, the most important price decreases were registered in air transport – around 18%. Compared to last year, among the alimentary goods, beer has seen the highest price raises – 7% – followed by fresh and canned fish – approximately 16%. As far as services are concerned, the air transport has registered the highest price rise – 26% – and among non-alimentary goods, detergents became 24% more expensive.

President Klaus Iohannis is beginning a ten-day trip in Africa

President Klaus Iohannis begins today a ten-day trip to Africa. The chief of state will visit Kenya, Tanzania, Cabo Verde and Senegal, where he will hold talks to his counterparts but also with some other African officials. The purpose of this trip is boosting cooperation in fields including agriculture, cybernetic security, digital infrastructure and education.
President Klaus Iohannis’ visits to Africa represent the first political and diplomatic step at this level in the last 30 years and targets relaunching Romania on the African continent, in the direct relation of our country with states in the region as well as in the bigger context of reviving relations between the EU and Africa, in the spirit of a new partnership. Klaus Iohannis’ visits are especially important in the context of the adoption, in Romania, of the National Strategy for Africa, through which our country intends to revive its relations wit African states and bringing them to a superior level. During his talks with African leaders, President Klaus Iohannis will try to identify measures for development of the commercial relations and growing economic exchanges, management of the emergency situations, but also strengthening Romania’s profile, as an education provider.

86 Romanian citizens came out of Gaza through Rafah border crossing point and are now on Egyptian territory

Yesterday, 86 Romanian citizens and members of their families came out of Gaza, through Rafah border crossing point and are now on Egyptian territory, on their way to Cairo, said the Foreign Minister. The 86 people have been taken over in Rafah by a team inside the Crisis Cell of the ministry and by representatives of the Romanian Embassy in Egypt. They will be accompanied to Cairo by another mobile team of the Crisis Cell. The Romanians evacuated yesterday will arrive in Romania soon. So far, 134 Romanian citizens and their families, evacuated from Gaza, have arrived in Romania, mentioned the foreign ministry. The institution continues its dialogue with Israeli and Egyptian authorities to facilitate the evacuation of the other Romanian citizens./aionita
