Canadian Embassy in Bucharest announced that the first phase of liberalization of the visa regime for Romanians will come into force on May 1

Canadian Embassy in Bucharest announced that the first phase of liberalization of the visa regime for Romanians will come into force on May 1, starting at 16:00. From that moment, those who had a Canadian visa in the last ten years or those who hold an entry visa in the US may apply for an electronic travel authorization, ETA, which replaces the visa and is usable for five years. The provision applies only to those who travel by plane or transit through a Canadian airport. People who want to enter Canada using any other means of transport will still need visitor visas. These restrictions would be lifted in December when Canadian government plans to abolish the visa regime for all Romanian citizens. The Embassy states that the electronic travel authorization is obtained from the Canadian government website, for a fee of 7 Canadian dollars. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)/astrugar
