Romania has exceeded 70.000 confirmed cases of COVID-19

Romania has exceeded the threshold of 70.000 confirmed infections of COVID-19, after the announcement, yesterday, of another 1.087 new cases, following the processing of over 11.000 tests. Most new cases were again in Bucharest – 154, Prahova – 96 and Argeș – 58. Another 37 deaths were registered associated with SARS-CoV-2 virus infection, so that the total number of deaths reached 2.991. There are now 479 patients in Intensive Care units./opopescu

A border police officer infected with COVID-19 died last night

A border policeman from the Jimbolia sector, confirmed with COVID-19, died last night. The announcement was made on Facebook by the Europol Union. The man was 43 years old and had become infected with the new coronavirus at the end of last month, when several cases were reported to the Timiş Border Police. Currently, there is an active outbreak at the County Police, where 22 agents were tested positive for COVID-19. Another 13 policemen are in solitary confinement at home./opopescu

The authorities remind how important it is to observe the protection measures, to wear the mask properly and to keep the social distance, as the number of infections with the new coronavirus increases. Because different businesses did not take the necessary measures to comply with the protection rules and to avoid as much as possible the physical interaction between customers, in the last two days the police have given several fines. Six catering units on the coastline were sanctioned with 61.000 lei. It is about three clubs from Mamaia, two from Costineşti and a terrace from Vama Veche. Two of the clubs in Mamaia received two fines each, because they did not remedy the problems reported at the first sanction. Also in Botoșani County, this weekend, 23 fines totaling over 35.000 lei were given for non-compliance with the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Police officers, gendarmes, firefighters, but also officials from the Territorial Labor Inspectorate and the Public Health Directorate, the Sanitary Veterinary and Consumer Protection Directorate carried out checks in shopping malls, markets, fairs and terraces, as well as on public transport./opopescu
