Romania reports another 4,271 daily coronavirus cases

Romanian authorities have reported another 4,271 coronavirus cases, out of around 36,000 tests performed in the last 24 hours. Most new cases were in the capital Bucharest – 643. 98 people have died due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours and 1,070 patients are currently treated in Intensive Care Units. Five counties have been placed in the red scenario due to the incidence of cases per 1,000 inhabitants.

First biometric gates have been become operational at Romania’s Henry Coanda International Airport

The first six biometric gates at Henry Coanda International Airport în Otopeni have become opperational as of Thursday, March 4th. The customs transit is now easier for travelers with biometric documents, identity card or passport. The check in the information system of the Romanian Border Police only takes a few seconds, unlike the classical controls, which could las for minutes, according to the Border Police Chief, Lucian Bute.

Romania’s Embassy in Madrid has suspended activity with the public at the Consular Section, due to a COVID-19 case

The Romanian Embassy in Madrid has suspended the public activity of its Consular Section, due to a positive COVID-19 case. In a statement, the Embassy says that all personnel will be tested and the premises will be disinfected. Appointments for consular services will be postponed to a further date, which is due to be announced shortly. Romanian citizens who encounter special situations may use the emergency number of the Consular Office, which is written on the Embassy’s web page: madrid.mae.ro.
