The Union of Professional Journalists in Romania celebrates the Romanian Journalist’s Day

The Union of Professional Journalists of Romania (UZPR) celebrates today the Day of the Romanian Journalist at the „Horia Bernea” Studio at the Museum of the Romanian Peasant. Within the wide framework of this guild celebration, the “Eminescu Ziaristul” awards and other important distinctions awarded to personalities from the Romanian public space will be awarded. The press release received from UZPR states that the organization, the only union of creation and public utility of the journalists’ guild, chose June 28 as emblematic for the profession of journalist in Romania, as June 28, 1883 was the day when Mihai Eminescu was forcibly removed from public life. June 28 represents for the Union of Professional Journalists in Romania, not a triumphant day of the press, but a day of silence and reflection on their own professional purpose and history, it is also said in the communiqué received from UZPR.
