Născut pe 10 ianuarie 1932, la Ștefănești, jud. Botoșani, AUREL VAINER, devenit mai târziu doctor în economie, a fost, în primul rând, un om în adevăratul înțeles al cuvântului. Ein Mensch, cum îi plăcea să spună despre cei puțini, aleși la suflet, ca și el, care meritau acest calificativ.
Venea dintr-o familie evreiască pe care o pomenea adesea și de la care a moștenit dragostea pentru muncă, iubirea față de aproape, respectul față de demnitatea proprie și a celor din jur, pe care s-a străduit mereu să nu îi umilească, să nu îi strivească sub autoritatea sa. Când era sfătuit să țină seama de vârsta lui, anii adunându-se implacabil, îți răspundea întotdeauna: „Cât vrea Dumnezeu, vreau și eu”.
A avut o contribuție esențială la dezvoltarea vieții evreiești din România. A insistat asupra necesității de depune eforturi masive pentru renovarea sinagogilor, chiar și în localități în care nu mai trăiau evrei, spunând că sinagogile erau cea mai bună afirmare și confirmare istorică a existenței evreilor pe meleagurile românești.
A luptat cu toată puterea, în permanență, împotriva antisemitismului și a negaționismului Holocaustului, împotriva urii și a discriminării.
S-a dăruit întru totul punerii în lumină a contribuției evreilor la dezvoltarea științifică, artistică, tehnologică și socială a României și a dispus organizarea de evenimente culturale și editarea de cărți demonstrând participarea evreilor la războaiele duse de România pentru întregirea țării și a neamului.
A fost și un apreciat politician, membru al Camerei Deputaților din partea comunității evreiești. Și aici s-a remarcat și s-a impus datorită calităților sale umane, inteligenței, culturii, echilibrului și dorinței de a promova înțelegerea și conlucrarea, niciodată confruntarea.
Fără Aurel Vainer, lumea a devenit mai săracă, iar cei care au avut ocazia să îl cunoască și să lucreze cu el, au avut un privilegiu.
Din păcate, Dumnezeu l-a chemat la El pe Aurel Vainer, iar noi, cei rămași, vom putea doar să ne întrebăm, din când în când, atunci când dăm de greu, ce ar fi făcut Aurel Vainer în respectiva situație.
Înmormântarea va avea loc marți, 2 noiembrie 2021, ora 14:00 la Cimitirul Evreiesc ”Filantropia” din București.
Odihnească-se în pace! Să îi fie amintirea binecuvântată!

We are very sad to announce the passing of Dr. AUREL VAINER, President of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Romania (2005-2020) and Honorary President (2020-2021).
Born on January 10, 1932, in Ștefănești, Botoșani County, AUREL VAINER, who later earned his Ph.D. in economics, was, first of all, a Man in the true sense of the word. Ein Mensch, as he liked to say about the few who had such a kind heart, just like him, who deserved to be called this name.
He was born in a Jewish family that he often mentioned and from which he inherited his attachment to work, the love for his neighbors, respect for his own dignity and for the dignity of those around him, whom he always tried not to humiliate, not to crush with the power of his authority. Whenever he was advised to take into account his age, and the years added relentlessly, one after the other, he would reply: „As many as God wants, I want, as well!”
He had an essential contribution to the development of Jewish life in Romania. He insisted on the need to make massive efforts to renovate the synagogues, even in places where Jews no longer lived, saying that the synagogues were the best statement and historical confirmation of the life of Jews in Romania.
With all his might, he constantly fought against anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial, against hatred and discrimination.
He was fully committed to underlining the contribution of the Jewish community to the scientific, artistic, technological and social development of Romania and was the driving force behind the organization of cultural and book publishing events aimed at proving the participation of Jews in the wars fought by Romania for the unification of the country and the nation.
He was also a respected politician, the representative of the Jewish community in the Chamber of Deputies. There, too, he stood out and imposed himself as a personality due to his humanity, intelligence, culture, balance and strong wish to promote understanding and cooperation, always being against confrontation.
Without Aurel Vainer, the world is poorer, and those who had the opportunity to meet him and work with him were privileged.
Unfortunately, God called Aurel Vainer to Him, and we, the ones left in mourning, can only ask ourselves, every once in a while, in difficult times: What would Aurel Vainer have done in this or that situation?
The funeral will take place on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 14:00 at the „Filantropia” Jewish Cemetery of Bucharest. May he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing!

כבה אורו של ד”ר אאורל ווינר, נשיא הכבוד של הפדרציה של הקהילות היהודייות של רומניה.
נולד ב10 לינואר 1932 בשטפנשט מחוז בוטושאני, לימים דוקטור לכלכלה, היה קודם כל אדם, במלוא מובן המילה, „מענטש”, כמו שאהב לומר על המעטים הנבחרים, הראויים כמוהו לתואר זה. נולד במשפחה יהודית מפוארת והרבה לספר אודותה. שם רכש את אהבת המלאכה, את האהבה לכל אדם באשר הוא אדם, את הכבוד עצמי ואת כבוד הזולת, את הזהירות שלא להעליב ושלא לרמוס. כאשר היו מיעצים לו להתחשב בגילו המופלג ולפרוש, היה עונה: „כל עוד הקב”ה רוצה, גם אני רוצה”.
היה לו חלק מכריע בפיתוח החיים היהודיים ברומניה. עמד על חשיבות שיקומם של בתי כנסת, אפילו בערים שכבר אין שם יהודים, כעדות נאמנה של חיים יהודיים תוססים שהיו על אדמת רומניה. לחם בהתמדה ובכל כוחו נגד האנטישמיות והכחשת השואה, נגד השנאה והאפליה.
הקדיש את חייו להחדרת התודעה על חלקם של היהודים בפיתוחה המדעי והטכנולוגי, האומנותי והחברתי של מדינת רומניה. ערך ארועים וספרים כדי לפרסם את חלקם של החיילים היהודיים במלחמותיה של רומניה.
היה פוליטיקאי מוערך, חבר בית הנבחרים הרומני, כנציג הקהילה היהודית. גם כאן הצטיין הודות לפקחותו, רוחב ידיעותיו, גישתו המאוזנת, אך בעיקר הודות שאיפתו להשגת הבנות והמנעותו ממחלוקת.
בלי אאורל ווינר העולם דל יותר. אשרי מי שזכה להכיר אותו ולעבוד אתו. בעונותינו, הקב”ה לקחו אליו. לנו לא נשאר אלא לשאול את עצמינו בשעות הקשות מה היה עושה אאורל ווינר במצב כזה.
הלוויתו תערך ביום שלישי, 20 לנובמבר בשעה 14:00 בבית העלמין „פילנטרופיה” בבוקרשט.
