President Klaus Iohannis on a two days’ visit to Azerbaijan

President Klaus Iohannis will begin today a two days’ visit to Azerbaijan, in Baku, at the invitation of his counterpart, Ilham Aliyev. The two officials will open the ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council. The visit takes place while Romania is trying to insure, from Caucasus, the necessary quantity of gas, to replace the imports from Russia, at good prices for our country.
President Klaus Iohannis will talk to his Azeri counterpart about the extension of the bilateral cooperation on energy, transport, commerce, agriculture, education and culture. The two will also talk about a better cooperation between Romania and Azerbaijan concerning the strategic initiatives between Europe and Central Asia. President Klaus Iohannis will talk, at the opening of the ministerial meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council, about the involvement of our country regarding the energetic security.

The Romanian Cultural Institute allocates one million lei, in 2023, for translating Romanian books abroad

The Romanian Cultural Institute allocates one million lei, in 2023, for translation of Romanian books abroad, through two financing programs. They are addressed to editors abroad and aim to facilitate access to the Romanian culture, by supporting translations of Romanian authors and publications dedicated to Romanian culture and civilization. The files will be registered exclusively online, by email, until March the 8th. For an objective and transparent selection, they will be evaluated by a commission of independent experts, selected following a public appeal of candidatures.

The official opening of “Timişoara, Cultural European Capital 2023” will take place between the 17th and 18th of February

The official opening of the “Timişoara – Cultural European Capital 2023” program, that will take place between the 17th and 18th of February, will be preceded by numerous events. Last night, at the National Romanian Opera in Timişoara, there was a special performance of ballet, “Prometheus’s Creations”, by Ludwig van Beethoven, and tomorrow, the “Two Owls” library will host the first literary evening of “Comuna 30” literary cenacle, that promotes young writers. On Sunday, The German State Theatre presents “Katzelmacher”, a play about a society that uses foreign workers but, at the same time, excludes them. During this special year, there will be held several events dedicated to Timişoara./aionita
