Marin Cazacu, cello player and founder of the project, underlined the importance of this event in the Romanian cultural context.
Marin Cazacu: Two things are essential: the fact that it is called “Enescu and The Music of The World”, this means that we have George Enescu’s music played by very young musicians; some of them have started their carriers in Sinaia and afterwards even became winners of the George Enescu international contest. We know very well that George Enescu was born on August 19th, and 24 years ago, in Romania, this date was in no way celebrated, and George Enescu’s memory was ignored. But this festival was started on the idea to build a festival for the young generation because there, in Sinaia, George Enescu built a house. He was supported by the royal family and also offered lessons to great artists of the world, in that exact same artistic place that Sinaia became.
