The European Consumer Centre set up in Romania

The authorities have announced that the European Consumer Centre has been set up in Romania to offer free advice to consumers. So far, thousands of Romanians have appealed to this institution, with most of the complaints related to air transport and online shopping. The European Consumer Centre in Romania offers free support to consumers in order to amiably solve some complex problems. The consumer protection authorities in the Romanian county of Salaj say that the European Centre may offer advice to consumers related to their rights or practical information necessary when traveling to the European space, with issues ranging from how to rent a car, book a holiday ticket, a flight or order products online. The centre is co-funded by the European Commission and the Romanian Government, by means of the National Authority for Consumer Protection.

Memorial Day service in Sinaia to commemorate American troops who died in Romania

In the last Monday of May the United States commemorates American soldiers who lost their lives during service. A Memorial Day military service has been held in the Romanian town of Sinaia, at the memorial build in the honour of the 378 American soldiers who died while on duty, on Romanian territory. The American Ambassador Hans Klemm, who attended the service, has recalled that Romania marks 15 years since its accession to the NATO alliance.
Hans Klemm: We are proud to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Romania’s accession to NATO, the strongest alliance that the world has ever known. We commit to honour the sacrifice of Americans who perished here during the Second World War. To that end, we have to permanently consider ourselves responsible of the highest standards from where we could measure our own contributions to promoting liberty, fundamental rights and a right justice for all.

Stradivarius International Tour in the Romanian city of Iasi

The International Tour Stradivarius has reached the Romanian city of Iasi. People who love classical music were able to take part for free in a concert held at the Culture Palace, by violinist Alexandru Tomescu on Monday evening. He played the Stradivarius violin Elder Voicu, made in 1702 – one of the few instruments of its kind in the world which are still operational. The French-born artist Delphine Benamou has accompanied Mr Tomescu by playing the harp, and Lari Georgescu performed a contemporary dance moment. The Stradivarius Vive la Musique Tour includes 15 concerts in 14 cities and is unfolding as part of the cultural season Romania-France. It marks its 12th edition this year, which is dedicated to the support for the construction of the first oncology and radiotherapy hospital for children in Romania.
