The air parade scheduled for July 20th and 21st cancelled after the emergency landing of a US helicopter in Charles de Gaulle Square

The air parade scheduled for the events that will take place next week for the Romanian Aviation and Air Force Day and the end of Romanian military presence in Afghanistan on July 20-21, has been cancelled by the order of the Defense Ministry. The decision comes following today’s incident, when a military US helicopter that was joining a training exercise for the two events, needed to make an emergency landing in Charles de Gaulle, in Bucharest, after reporting the technical problems. The spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, Constatin Spînu: I want to emphasize that there were no victims, nor among the crew or the people here. Safety is what matters, and this is why it has been decided to cancel the participation of the Air Forces with aircrafts at the ceremonies that are due to take place.
Meanwhile, The Military Prosecutor’s Office has been noticed today about this incident, the spokesman of the institution, Florin Bobin Said.
Florin Bobin: Our presence here is natural. We have been noticed in connection with this event, so a criminal case has been open, to investigate what has happened. Probably, it will be framed as 349, 350 Penal Code, not taking and not respecting measures concerning work safety, but that is just an estimate. I couldn’t say, at this moment, because I am not the one leading the investigation, it is the role of my colleagues who lead the actual investigation.

Romania will have to cut its carbon emissions by 12.7% until 2035

Romania will have to cut its carbon emissions by 12.7% until 2035, compared to 2005, although the initial target was of only 2%. The European Commission proposes an ambitious measure package to reach the climate objectives of the Union. Among them: rising costs for the carbon emissions generated by heating, transportation and the industry, taxing the fuels for air and sea transport and forbidding selling cars with an internal combustion by 2035. Measures have already been criticized by some member states of the EU, but also by associations of car producing firms and by air transporters.
In the first stage, according to proposals of the Commission, the carbon emission cuts for new cars should be of 55% by 2030, compared to the level in 2021, then, of 100% starting 2035. The executive wants to encourage the production of electrical vehicles, and for people who own such cars to be able to charge them, member states will have to install enough charging stations, at least 60 kilometers from one another, on the highways. Hydrogen charging stations should be installed every 150 kilometers. The proposals made by the Commission must be negotiated with the member states and the European Parliament, and France-Presse says that along the approval process changes can be made. Also, it is expected that objections will be made from countries where there are big car producers, such as Germany, France, Spain and Italy. There are voices that say that electrical cars are much more expensive than conventional ones and that many people that work in the industry will lose their jobs.

European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides says that Romania must double its vaccination efforts during summer

Romania must double its vaccination efforts during the summer, considering that only 30% of the adult population has been completely vaccinated, says the European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakides, who will arrive tomorrow in Romania. She added that the more contagious Delta variant of the coronavirus, already present in the European Union, that will be largely transmitted this summer, represents a major risk for unvaccinated people. Vaccination is the strongest weapon against variants – said the European Commissioner. According to a declaration of the European Commission in Bucharest, Stella Kyriakides will meet the health minister, Ioana Mihăilă, and will make a visit to the vaccination center in Petreşti./aionita
