Romanians must be treated like all European consumers and will no longer be victims of the double standard. The executive yesterday adopted an Emergency Ordinance that implements the provisions of a European directive and, in this way, Romanian consumers align with those in the Union regarding the rights and methods of protection. The ordinance introduces clarifications regarding incorrect, misleading or aggressive practices – explained the Minister of Economy, Florin Spătaru. The penalties – if it is found that companies resort to such practices – rise, at national level, to the equivalent in lei of two million euros, and for exceptional, transnational cases, which are specified in the European directive, can reach up to 4% of turnover (RADIO ROMANIA NEWS)
