BNR’ s ROBOR index down

BNR’s ROBOR three-month index went down at 7.35%, according to data issued by Romania’s National Bank (BNR) on Monday. ROBOR’s value increased strongly last year from 3.02 in January 2022 to 7.56 early this month. The six-month ROBOR used in calculation of mortgage loan interest rates in RON with variable interest dropped slightly to 7.59 per year, and a 12-month rate of 7.94 percent. BNR’s Reference Index for Consumer Credits, IRCC, hit 5.71 per year.

Romania’s Hell’s Angels leader extradited to US

Romania has extradited the suspected leader of the country’s Hell’s Angels network to US where he was expected to face charges of drug traffiking, money laundring and complicity to attempted murder, according to a police statement on Monday. The man was identified as Marius Lazăr, who is wanted as a member of an international crime gang of drug traffickers and attempted killing of two rivals. Lazăr, 48, was arrested in Bucharest last December. US Marshals with face coverings led Mr. Lazăr to a plane, according to media reports.

DN-71 contract signed

A contract of upgrading Romania’s National Road (DN 71) between Bâldana and Târgoviște in southern Romania was signed on Monday between Romanian officials and delegates of an association of companies in Turkey. The value of the contract hits RON 1 billion, VAT excluded, while the length of the road hits some 44 km (about 30 miles), according to a statement of Corneliu Ștefan, president of the County Council of Dâmbovița, in southern Romania. Techinical upgrades will be completed within a year before works of almost two years.
