The Romanian Parliament marked 75 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Israel

Yesterday, the Romanian Parliament marked 75 years of diplomatic relations between Romania and Israel in a solemn meeting attended by members of the government, leaders of diplomatic missions in Bucharest and representatives of the Jewish communities in our country. On this occasion, the Israeli Parliament speaker, Amir Ohana, appreciated the fact that the Romanian legislative organized the event to honor the independence day of another state.
This was the first time a Israeli Parliament speaker spoke before Romanian senators and deputies. Amir Ohana underscored the strong ties between the two countries and the fact that, in the 75 years, bilateral relations have been consolidated in domains such as technology, tourism and economy. Amir Ohana appreciated the fact that Romania was the only country in the former communist block that didn’t cut diplomatic relations, even if the state of Israel has been in an almost permanent hostile environment.

A forum dedicated to security challenges in the Black Sea and Balkans area is taking place in Bucharest

Bucharest started hosting a forum dedicated to security challenges in the Black Sea and Balkans area. For two days, more than 40 sessions will take place, attended by high rank civilian and military officials, diplomats and well known experts from EU and NATO member states. At the opening of the event, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă said that security threats in the Black Sea region, determinated by the abuses by the Russian Federation, claim tightening the presence of the North-Atlantic Alliance in the area. The chief of the executive talked about the navigation routes safety, reminding the necessity of new maritime corridors between the Black Sea and the Caspic region.

Ceremony to mark 100 years since the burial of the remains of The Romanian Unknown Soldier

Yesterday, in the Romanian capital, in the Carol the 1st Park, the ceremony to mark 100 years since the burial of The Unknown Romanian Soldier, on May the 14th 1923, has been held. Several ceremonies have taken place, and Prime Minister Nicolae Ciucă and Nicuşor Dan, mayor of the capital, revealed a memorial plaque.

Nicolae Ciucă: The 14th of may will forever be the day of gratitude for our ancestors who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The importance of this moment has grown as veterans in the Second World War have been joined, in the last 30 years, by new veterans of the foreign theatres of war, who have, through their sacrifice, taken Romania in the North-Atlantic Alliance and founded the respect and prestige of Romania in NATO.
