Two planes will take off from Otopeni with material goods for the Syrians affected by the earthquake in Turkey

Two planes of the Romanian Air Force will take off today from Base 90 in Otopeni, with material goods donated by the Romanian state for the Syrians affected by the powerful earthquake eight days ago in Turkey. One of the aircraft will arrive in Gaziantep, Turkey, and the other will land at the airport of the Lebanese city of Beirut. The aid will arrive by land in Syria after the government in Damascus approved the opening of two new border crossings with Turkey for the passage of humanitarian aid. The European Union has activated the civil protection mechanism and is sending aid and allocating funds to the victims of the earthquake that also severely affected Syria, where aid is more difficult to reach because this country is subject to international sanctions. The toll from the February 6 earthquake exceeded 37,000 dead, with nearly 32,000 in Turkey and 5,700 in Syria.
