Romania’s National Defense Council has approved Romania’s objectives for next week’s NATO summit

The Supreme National Defense Council meeting on Thursday has approved Romania’s objectives for next week’s NATO summit, and the security of the Black Sea region is one of these objectives. CSAT members also decided to establish in the country a regional training center for pilots who operate on F-16 military aircraft, which are also part of the equipment of the Romanian army. Together with the allied partners and with the company that designs the F-16 planes, a pilot training center for the operation of these fighter planes will be created in Romania. Initially, Romanian pilots will be trained, and later the facility will be opened to the participation of pilots from allied and NATO partner states, including Ukraine. CSAT members also approved the objectives for the NATO Summit in Vilnius, scheduled for next week. President Klaus Iohannis will once again bring to the forefront some aspects related to the security of the Black Sea region. According to a press release from the Presidential Administration, Romania is ready to contribute to the allied effort both from the position of host state of some NATO multinational structures, and by supplementing the defense budget to 2.5% of GDP, starting this year. Last but not least, CSAT members approved the forces of the Romanian Army and the Ministry of Interior, which will take part in foreign missions and operations next year. The new element is the additional participation in the EUFOR ALTHEA mission in the Bosnia and Herzegovina theater of operations.

Traffic on the Transfagarasan road will be resumed on Friday

Traffic on Transfăgărăşan will be resumed as of 9:00 am on Friday. At Arefu, in Argeş county, where water and alluvial material have covered the road, the danger of massive rock falls from the slopes remains – the prefect of the county has announceed. Dozens of cars were stuck in the area on Thursday and the intervention of several crews from the Road Company, the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations and the police was needed.

The Neversea International Festival of electronic music has started in Constanta

The Neversea Electronic Music Festival, the largest held on a beach in Europe, has started on Thursday in Constanta. More than 150 Romanian and international artists will perform at the event, now in its 5th edition, and the organizers expect more than 250,000 spectators during the four days and nights of the festival. The Ministery of Interior (MAI) and the local authorities have taken increased security measures and have promised that the Neversea beach will be the safest public place on the Black Sea shore, for the entire duration of the event. The organizers have taken special measures to ensure the security of the participants in the event that will polarize attention in the next four days on the Romanian coast. Edy Chereji, festival manager, has said that very year they work with local authorities, national authorities, and MAI representatives to make Neversea the safest public place during the four days. „I am convinced that this year too, due to the measures we have taken, we will achieve this goal and carry on the tradition: five years when things happened without major incidents”, Chereji added. Police, gendarmes, border guards, drug inspectors, local police and military firefighters, as well as 700 private security guards will contribute to the safety of the participants. 200 police officers will be on duty daily in the festival area and on the main roads of Constanta to streamline traffic and detect those driving under the influence of alcohol or psychoactive substances./mbrotacel
