Baia Mare Municipality is the new Youth Capital of Romania

Baia Mare Municipality is the new Youth Capital of Romania, mandate received from the National Governance Programme. The appointment was announced by Youth and Sports Minister Ioana Bran in the presence of over 5,000 young people. Besides this title – gained through a concept that aims to create attractive opportunities for young people to remain in the community – youth organizations in Baia Mare have also received 50,000 euros from the program funder. Baia Mare will hold the mandate of the Youth Capital of Romania until May 1st next year. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

The largest allied exercise on NATO’s south-eastern flank will begin in the town of Constanta

The largest allied exercise on NATO’s south-eastern flank will begin in the town of Constanta. There will be forces which include 21 military ships, 10 combat aircraft, a submarine and 2,300 soldiers from several countries. The exercise is called Sea Shield and it will last 8 days. According to a communiqué of the General Staff of the Romanian Naval Forces, during the training the soldiers will implement NATO standard procedures to combat asymmetric, submarine and maritime threats, according to a scenario based on a fictitious geopolitical situation. The Romanian Naval Forces participates in this exercise, among other things, with two frigates, two missile-carrying vessels and two maritime dredgers. The Romanian Air Force participates with three MiG 21 Lancers and for the first time the Land Forces are present with a detachment of infantry. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)

Thirty-four people from Iran and Iraq who tried to get out of Romania illegally were captured at Nadlac 2 Border Crossing Point

Thirty-four people from Iran and Iraq who tried to get out of Romania illegally, after hiding inside a truck, were captured at Nadlac 2 Border Crossing Point. The foreign citizens were discovered by border guards in the truck of a Bulgarian carrying napkins to Germany. After preliminary checks it was found that the 34 persons, including minors, are registered as asylum seekers in Romania. (RADIO ROMANIA reports)
